Business meetings, conferences, exhibitions, trade shows and professional gatherings all form the
increasing demand for meetings spaces globally. Many of such meetings are held annually with 50%
of such meetings holding in Convention facilities.
Convention centers are large buildings that typically offer sufficient floor area to accommodate
several thousand attendees. Very large venues, suitable for major trade shows, are sometimes
known as exhibition centres. Convention centers typically have at least one auditorium and may
also contain concert halls, lecture halls, meeting rooms, and conference rooms. Some large resort
area hotels include a convention center.
The leading convention facilities boast of infrastructural and aesthetic features, monumental
relevance or location.
Often conceived to support economic growth and development, convention centers serve to provide
a location for meetings, conventions, trade shows, public shows, the arts, and local interests. The
benefits are measured in terms of out-of-town visitors, occupied room nights, incremental taxes,
and sales.
